ULTRA DOG TRAINING

ULTRA Dog Training is an Understandable, Loving, Thoughtful, Responsive, Adaptable approach to dog training. Using force-free principles and techniques to provide efficient, effective and compassionate dog training, it is my goal to help people and their dogs have the happiest lives together by teaching skills that foster trust, obedience, joy, love of learning and enhanced communication.

At ULTRA Dog Training, joy, engagement, choice and consistency are the foundational pillars of dog training.

  • Training should be fun for both you and your dog. Training sessions are structured to teach your dog how to learn, but more importantly are a powerful tool in building a positive relationship and lasting bond with your canine companion.
  • Your dog’s engagement with you is the foundation by which desired behaviors are created. Engagement is where training starts. Through positive interactions between you and your dog, training continues throughout your dog’s life.
  • Allowing your dog to make the correct choice without coercion, force or threat is not only the most powerful way to teach, it creates the most responsive and confident canine companion.
  • Maintaining consistency in training through clear expectations and effective routines leads to satisfaction and success.

My love of dogs and passion for training blends well with my 38 years experience in  education as a teacher, coach and principal. I am an avid ultra trail runner and ultra running coach. I am a graduate of the highly respected  Karen Pryor Academy (KPA)  and as a KPA  Certified Training Partner, have pledged to both train and teach using the principles that I learned in the course which encompass least intrusive, minimally aversive (LIMA) standards using positive reinforcement without the use of punishment or physical force. I am always excited to create custom-tailored interventions, using science/evidence-based methods.

I, along with my canine companion, Sadie, are active members of Intermountain Therapy Animals and MT Ag K9’s.
